Installing VISCII Fonts

We use only two basic VISCII Vietnamese fonts, namely, UHoài1.1 (for most of the Vietnamese alphabet) and UHoàiH1.1 (occasionally for some special capital letters) to display Vietnamese diacritical marks. They are similar to the popular Times or Times New Roman fonts of the English language. For your convenience, these two fonts can be downloaded directly from this web site (say, to the folder C:\WINDOWS\TEMP):
      UH____11TTF  69,868  04-15-97  8:15p  uh____11.ttf
      UHH___11TTF  69,516  04-15-97  8:15p  uhh___11.ttf,
The following instructions are for the Windows 95/98 operating system:

  1. Click Start  —> Settings  —> Control Panel  —> Fonts.
  2. In the C:\WINDOWS\FONTS windows, if you see UHoài 1.1 and UHoàiH 1.1 in the listing, then these two fonts have been already installed and there is no need to proceed any further. Otherwise, click File  —> Install New Font.
  3. In the Add Font window, navigate in the Folder section to select C:\WINDOWS\TEMP (or the folder containning the downloaded fonts) and then click OK. You should see the two VISCII fonts listed in the upper panel as UHoài 1.1 (TrueType) and UHoàiH 1.1 (TrueType).
  4. Click on UHoài 1.1 (TrueType) to select the first font.
  5. Click on both the Ctrl key and UHoàiH 1.1 (TrueType) to select the second font.
  6. Click OK to install both fonts.
  7. Exit the Add Font window.
  8. Exit the C:\WINDOWS\FONTS window.
  9. Exit the Control Panel window .
  10. That's it!
