Christine McWebb

My present research focusses mainly on late medieval French literature. I am particularly interested in the works of Christine de Pizan and the relation between text and iconography. I have published extensively on these topics and am currently working on a monograph tentatively titled "Allegory, Iconography and Text: Christine de Pizan and the Debate about the Roman de la Rose" as well as a critical edition and translation into English of the Débat sur le roman de la rose (1402) to be published with Routledge (in collaboration with Prof. Earl Jeffrey Richards).

I am also interested in translation theories, looking in particular at cultural and political "rewriting" in translations, medieval and modern.
