With the international financial crisis coming to an end and increased attention to global economic governance reforms, Dr. Momani has been working on proposals to reform the IMF, including a policy brief on the topic published by CIGI. See Working Papers for more details.
The international financial crisis has brought new challenges and opportunities to many countries in the Middle East. After years of rising oil prices and a dynamic investment boom throughout the region, there has been a transition a rethinking of how to move forward in the region. As many countries attempt to achieve a diversified and growing, the Middle East and the Gulf are exciting regions to study. Dr. Momani is writing on the longterm position of the Middle East and the Gulf in the international financial and economic system. See Working Papers for more details.

Dr. Momani's research on the International Monetary Fund (IMF), an international financial institution, has focussed on the politicization of the organization, organizational culture, staff recruitment, efforts to reform the organization, and the Fund's political history. Dr. Momani's research on the Middle East has explored free trade, investments, petrodollars, and debt negotiations throughout the region.
