Public Computing Labs (Nexus)

Who can use the labs?

Anyone with a Nexus account (regardless of faculty), can use these computers.

When are the labs open?

All labs (except PAS 1237 and ECH 1205) are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during Christmas holidays. PAS 1237 is open Monday - Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (unless previously booked). ECH 1205 is open only for classes booked in the room.

Can the labs be booked?

The Language Lab, PAS1237 and ECH 1205 can sometimes be booked. Please see the Facilities main page for more information.

 

What is available in each of the labs?

All computers are on the Waterloo Nexus, Windows XP, 100BaseT network.
The information below provides details on each of the labs:

PAS 1237 *

No. of workstations : 42 + 1 podium computer

CPU: P4, 1.8 Ghz

Monitor Size: 11 X 19", 32 X 17"

Peripherals: Floppy Drives, Sound Cards (head phones with long cords required)

ECH 1205

The design lab in ECH 1205 features diigital design software.

ML 109 and 113

Lab Rating: n/a

The multimedia labs in Modern Languages 109 and 113 feature multimedia enhanced computers, including headphones and foreign language software.

Can the labs be booked?

The language lab machines in ML109,113 that run Nexus are only available for booking by Language Instructors. View Schedules for booking availability.

PAS1237, which has 42 stations and a data projector, can be booked. A Nexus Account is required. View Schedule for booking availability. To book, e-mail Barb or Vic.

ECH 1205, is only available for booking by Fine Arts, English or DAC instructors. View Schedule for booking availablility. To book, email Barb or Vic.

What printers and scanners are available and where?

PAS1099 and HH236

The \\nxsartsapp\q_arts print server is routed to all Arts Nexus accounts. Jobs sent to this server (when you choose to print a file using your lab computer) can be released to a printer using a release monitor in either PAS1099 or HH236.
