Registration will take place in the lobby of J.G. Hagey Hall for the Humanities between 8:00 and 8:25 a.m. on the first day of the session. T-shirts will be distributed to campers that morning. Note: On Registration Day only, you will park in the Visitor’s Parking area of Lot H (free parking for ACE Camp on that morning only).
The ACE program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Campers should be dropped off between 8:15 and 8:25 a.m. in front of Hagey Hall each day. You may drive up to the front doors of the building; our staff members will then take the campers to their groups. Signs will be posted at the University entrance to direct you on the first day.
Your camper will be picked up at the back entrance to the Swimplex, in the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex on Father David Bauer Drive. Swimming ends at 4:00. Your child will then change in the locker room and will be escorted to the back entrance. You are required to park your car and check in with your child’s counsellor. We will provide a sign-out sheet for you to initial. Only the person listed on your child’s sign-out information will be allowed to pick up your child. Our staff is available until 5:00. There will be a charge of $5.00 for every 15 minutes your child remains in our care. If on occasion you may be late, please make prior arrangements with our office.
If you arrive at camp late, please bring your camper(s) to the camp office in Hagey Hall, room 162, to be checked in. If possible, call ahead (888-4567 x31092) to let staff members know not to expect the camper(s) at the normal time.
To arrange early pick-up, please contact the camp office in advance.
Please call before 8:30 a.m. if your child(ren) will be absent. This will allow groups to begin their day promptly rather than waiting unnecessarily for absent campers.
Please arrive on time or make arrangements for pick-up by 5:00 p.m. each day, since your camper(s) and our staff members have all put in a long day. There will be an extra charge of $5.00 for every 15 minutes our staff are asked to stay late with your child.
If you wish to purchase a photo of your child's group, they will be available for $5.00 each (cash only) to be paid in advance or on Registration Day. You may complete the form online or use the form which will be included in your Parent's Confirmation Package. We will do our best to ensure that all campers are present for the photo, but we cannot guarantee it. Photo orders and payment will not be accepted after the 1st day of camp.
If it is raining or looks as though it might, please prepare your campers(s) accordingly. We will continue to travel to and from classroom activities and swimming, which requires us to go outside. Afternoon free-to activities will take place indoors during rainy days.
Campers will need the following (all labelled clearly):
Electric games, iPods, cell phones etc. We will not be responsible for the loss of personal items.
Some of our campers have allergies to a variety of foods, including peanuts and nuts. We ask that all campers bring completely peanut/nut-free lunches and snacks to camp and follow our no-sharing policy with regards to food. As per University of Waterloo guidelines, we will provide a separate eating area for those campers with allergies who would like to eat there, although we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment. Note: Campers who are at risk of anaphylaxis or an anaphylactic reaction to any substance must carry the appropriate EpiPen kit at all times. A parent/guardian must sign the consent form to allow the injection to be given immediately in case of emergency.
It is required that all parents inform our co-ordinator of any medical issues, behavioural problems, social skills issues, allergies, medications or special needs. Please be specific. We will follow up with a phone call regarding the issues. You are welcome to make an appointment to come in to discuss your child’s needs. With your information, we can provide a safe, comfortable environment for all or our campers.
