GER 620: Issues in Weimar Republic Culture

   

This course examines topics of interest in the Weimar Republic such as Neue Sachlichkeit, modernism, the conservative revolution, and gender representation.

GER 645: Canada and Germany - A Course in Comparative Culture

   

An examination of common and contrasting treatments of specific themes (e.g. nature, city, history) in twentieth-century Canadian and German literature and film. Canadian-German literary relations and the concept of the cultural imaginary are also discussed.

German filmmakers have a long-standing relationship with Hollywood. This course examines the films of five directors who have made films in both Germany and America.
